So I have been working on a new website to help promote a small business of mine.
I'll be the first to admit that my web design skills are far from excellent.
I would like to get some opinions on this before I put alot more effort into it. keep in mind that it is not finished, and there are several broken links.
I just want to know what people think about the general appearance and layout.
Thanks!!

I really like the color scheme and layout

I like the color scheme and layout as well. The one thing I would do is brighten the phone number in the upper left hand corner or enlarge the one at the bottom left. I asked my father-in-law to look at it (he is color blind) and he could not see it. He also could not read the phone number at the bottom left.

Looks alright, though I'm personally not a big fan of frames.

It looks great zig! a very nice start and i would love to give you a few opinions/comments/critiques/other
i would choose a sans serif font for all text, or if you really like the serif's only use a serif font for the headers (or large text).
black/dark backgrounds look cool but are difficult to read text placed over it. For example, i had to squint, then adjust my monitor position to read the phone# on the top of the page.
attempt to avoid the scrolling frame on the left.
move the logo to the header
see if you can create drop down menu bar across the top to organize all of your links...i think there are sites out there that will generate code for you
good luck!

Can you increase the leading (space between the lines)? It seems to me that the text with the rollovers are too close together. Other than that it looks pretty good.

I do a fair bit of freelance web design, and I've got a few suggestions for improvements.
• Try saving the file New CVD Logo.gif on a black matte ~ that'll lose the white fringe.
• Add some padding (width) to your left nav frame.
• Find a higher contrast way to display the phone number in the top frame. Right now it is tuff to read. Also, I recommend killing the white at the top of the page. As your layout stands now, that is the first thing your visitor's eyes will be drawn to.
• Lose the tiled background. Consider using a subtler texture; for instance a paper grain on a seamless tile.
• The fonts you have right now aren't playing well together. It's usually a good idea to stick to one or two fonts on a page unless you've done a pretty extensive amount of typography in your time.
All that said, you're off to a good start. I particularly like the background of your left nav bar.

I think drop-down headings would be a good idea in the future.
Websites with dark backgrounds get fewer return visitors than those with neutral backgrounds. I haven't seen frames since the geocities days.
There's good contrast (except the phone #) so it's easy to read at least.

I was trying to make a drop down vertical navigation bar... but I couldnt get one that would fit in the left frame, or hover over the two adjoining frames..
the fonts are not a big deal, I Was more so trying to get the colors to work together...
I originally had no texture on the main frame, but it looked kind of plain, so I created the texture that is there now..
I'll make some revisions...

Made a few changes..
I hid the frames.. they are still there. I guess it just works for me..
did i make it better, or worse?

BTW, Dreamweaver wont let me put text next to an image, I have to put the text above or below the picture. Anyone know how I can fix this? the whole top frame is lost space because of this, I want to put my contact info there, but cant.
Thanks!

looks great! could use more videos of stuff exploding tho...
Here's my 2 cents worth. Trying not to bash or pick apart, just pointing out things that I THINK may be important to you.
Don't know for sure why, but your top bar and page background hurts my eyes. It may be because my resolution is 1920x1080 and 42". It's like those trick pictures that look like they are moving even though they aren't.
If the page is windowed, my scroll bar only scrolls the right nav bar and not the whole page as I would expect....
Nav bars' background is awfully dark... I'd personally find the site more inviting if it were a little liter in color.
I had to 'hunt' around to find the phone number on the page. Don't know how to fix it, but that seems important.
If you're pushing graphic design or art, I'd recommend using a font that is more modern.

Hey Zig, is there any reason why it still scrolls on the right side?
I really like the new layout. Heck of a lot easier to look at ;)
