I have had a small loach for a few weeks now and he has been eating..

..but know he is showing signs of malnourishment...very thin posterior of the dorsal fin...

I have him sectioned off in a breeder net for safety and non competition for food. Gave him mosquito larvae and bloodworms but his appetite is worrying me. Is there anything i should do to help him?

What species is he, Ryan? Does he poop? If so, how does the poop look? He may be wasting away due to either internal bacterial infection or parasites? Do you have levamisole hydrochloride within your reach? If not, your other alternatives are fenbendazole or flubendazole.

I forgot the prazi.:duh:

Add garlic and praziquantel on the foods. Praziquantel is available as Prazipro if you can find that one. Praziquantel is not cheap but it is worth it if you give it a try.

Here's the treatment regimen.
Remove carbon.
Add 2.5 milligrams per liter of water.
If you are using the powdered version, it is difficult to dissolve. Predissolve in tank water by shaking it up in a small container.
Dosing
Day 1 -- remove carbon, perform water change with vacuuming, and add Prazi to tank
Day 2 -- add Prazi
Day 3 -- do nothing
Day 4 -- do nothing
Day 5 -- do nothing
Day 6 -- add Prazi
Day 7 -- add Prazi
Day 8 -- normal partial water change with vacuuming
Day 14 - normal partial water change, then add prazi
Day 21 - normal partial water change, then add prazi
Day 28 - normal partial water change, then add prazi
Day 35 - normal partial water change, add carbon, treatment is complete

ty Lupin..

He's a Clown Loach. May very well be a parasite causing him trouble, just lethargic. Reminds me of the fatal "skinny disease."

I have nourish so I think a soaked portion of food is on the menu for breakfast. I turned the light off early for him to rest with a decent meal. Hopefully the protein he ate will help him over night. I'll soak some flake in SeaChem Nourish and crumble it for him in the morning.
Never heard of prazipro...it will be tomorrow if not friday before i can get that, I think I have to try...at least he has his own ICU..lol
