One of my Danios is missing the bottom half of his tail- disappeared suddenly. Doesn't seem to be bothering him any- still swimming around like normal and acting normla.

Doesn't look like any rot or other form of infection and no other fish look sick or harmed.

I'm suspecting someone had a go at him- and the best thing is just to keep the water clean and hope it'll grow back mostly. I don't want to seperate and medicate him if he's fine without it- I think being seperated may be more traumatic than the actual injury.

Not sure who the guilty party is- he lives with mostly benign tank mates- other Danios, Corydora, Cherry Barbs, Bulldog Pleco, Kuhlis.

Unless it was one of his fellow Danios- I suspect the above are all innocent... my area of suspicion actually lies with my Shufedtii dwarf crays... boisterous little things... they're always nipping at the fish- I thought they were too small to cause any real damage- but they certainly look the chief suspect in this attack.

Yeah, I have 12 Danio (mixed colours and long fin/short fin) - never witnessed aggression between them... occasionally the males will chase the females or other males- but never witnessed anything potentially damaging between them.

That's why I think the Shufedtii is probably more likely to blame than a school-mate of the Danio. It's probably about 40% of the tail that is gone- seems completely unaffected by the missing lower half of it's tail though.

It is one of the smaller males though so it is possible it could have been a victim of aggression from a larger male.
