All these F1 catfish are superb quality and I will only bag the finest fish.
If anything doesn't meet my strict quality standards, then it doesn't go
in the box at all. I can ship anywhere in the USA and local pick-up is always
welcomed. I have other catfish available also, but mostly Ancistrus species
including wild L180, wild L213, F1 LDA08 proven pairs, F1 L183, TR L059,
and L144 Blue-eyed Albino. PM me if you're interested in anything and
I'll give you my phone number. All fish transactions will be finalized via
the phone to avoid any possible errors in communication. Thanks!

F1 plecos are the fry from wild (F0) plecos. Buying F1 plecos has a distinct
advantage over purchasing wild fish. F1 fish almost never have the parasite
and bacterial problems that wild plecos commonly have. F1 also don't require
the specific water parameters that most of the wild fish require. Our group
of pleco breeders believe that in most cases F1 plecos spawn much easier
then wild fish and normally spawn at a smaller size then wilds. So the lower
risk of contamination along with the increased chances of spawning and the
wider range of water conditions they can live in make F1 suckermouth
catfish a much better value in my opinion.

Schneeball is what I would consider to be Baryancistrus sp. LDA33/L142.

F1 means the first generation from a male / female cross. If two of those F1 offspring mated they would produce F2 offspring. Simple Mendelian genetics, that's all.

Thanks. That is a very good explanation and I appreciate the reasoning of why F1 is better than F0. I thought F1 might mean first generation, but I was assuming and thought that it might also mean wild caught. Again, thanks for the explanation.

UPDATE: 10/18/09

15 Hypancistrus L201
8 Leporacanthicus galaxias L007
