Hello all. I am new to this forum and just wanted to say "Hi" and get some suggestions.

I have a 49 gallon bow front aquarium. I have been raising African Cichlids for several years in a 75 gallon tank. A few zebras, haps and peacocks bred into a whole bunch of zebras and a few haps and peacocks. I got rid of the zebras sticking with a few haps and peacocks and moved them to the 49 bow front. I am tired of the constant fighting and want to move to a more community tank in the 49 bow front with some angles.

I will get small angels to start and hope for 1 or 2 pairings as they grow. For tankmates, I am seeking suggestions.

Tetras seem to be popular but I have read that they like the lighting a little subdued and a dark substrate. I like lots of light and I have a white, crushed coral substrate.

Any suggestions for fish that will go with the angels, good lighting and white substrate?

Thanks in advance.

Freddy

If you get a pair that breeds, then no tank mates at all.I would consider a single if you want to keep a community in a 49 with it.

Welcome to the forum. :)

You can get 6 angels, as the pair off, you can ethier keep the pair , move them to thier own' breeding tank, and try your hand at breeding angels :) , OR you can sell off your pairs' and You will have probally 2-4 adult angels left. and they live well with most tetras, pretty much any fish without long flowing fins, *( like NO guppy, bettas, gouramis, Etc. ) I have BNplecos, gol light tetras, and white cloud minnows in my angel tank . I also have 2 bumblebee gobys, everyone said they wouldent like this tank, and would be mean' or somthing , but so far, so GOOD . :)

I have some amgels for sale, they are zebra laced super veils , Very pretty, and the easiest I have found so far to breed, and raise fry . I also have a pair of DD blacks, but it has been a Struggle to get thier newborns pass free swimming stage, like I said, the zebra veils were easier .. lol ~~~

lemme know if I can help, ask any questions threw Pm, I am here alot .
and If you would like to buy some angels, and maybye some other fish & items I have on sale, just ask !! ~~ WELCOME to AC, You have found the BEST forum on the net for a GREAT fish tank :) ~~

Thanks for the replies and the warm welcome.

I ended up getting 4 small angel fish and 10 Black Neon Tetra. Those Neons sure do school. For that matter, so do the angels right now.

I also got 4 different plants. My wife loves plants and we could not have them with the African Cichlids. The Cichlids just ate them.

Already in the tank are 3 Chinese Algea Eaters (1 large and 2 medium sized) and a Spotted Raphael Catfish.

I think I am going to like this tank. I had the African Cichlids for about 7 years. This is a big change but it looks good.
