View Full Version : Tank Stand
Below you will see a picture of my new tank stand for a 125 gal. Framing was completed with 2x6 lumbar.
I am not sure How I wish to finish it, but I know I want to ahve doors along the front as well as at both ends to allow for easy access to hardware.
Any ideas, thoughts, links to will be appreciated.
Happy New Year

I used verneer oak 1/4" plywood as the skin. Chair rail for the doors frame and other edging. I'm sure that you have the tools to do it, since your framework looks great. Good luck.

Looks Great. What did you do for the canoppy? Did you make it? Also what is the small shelf just under the top for, food storage?

Here's a picture of the top and how it opens up. I should place it on my website, which I think I'll do today.
I did make it the top. Went to Lowes and bought the spindles. Then used 1" X 2" wood for the frame. Then used 3" chairrail around the top to dress it up. The bought 3/4" verneer oak plywood for the top, which is in 3 pieces. I wanted something strong, because I have 4 cats that like to jump, lay, and watch the fish from the top.
The small shelf you see at the top was where I raised my own mealworms. I did this because the stand was made when I was breeding Leopard Geckos. After several years with no large fishtank I wanted to switch back to fish. Not enough room for anymore tanks. :(
If I were to have built the stand when I had fish, I would have changed the top design to be 1 piece and to open on hinges, so it would have been easier to access.
Here's to a thread that has this picture.
