I want buy a new fixture for my 10 gal and im going for a "high" level of lighting so i can grow high light plants, how many watts should i shoot for?

I run a 55 watt AHSUPPLY 6700k pc on mine. It's 6 and a half inches above the water. Plants grow like crazy with Flourish and diy co2 (2 pepsi bottles). I am going to go pressurized next week.
Lighting is on 6 hrs a day mon through fri, 8 and a half hrs on Sat and 13 hrs on Sun.

Ooo, pretty tank!

Depending on the type of lighting (CFL,PC,T5HO) I would aim for about 3-3.5wpg (can be less if using a good reflector)
You can check out ahsupply they have a 36w kit, it would be more than enough for the tank. But remember high light = high need of co2 and balance of ferts.
and trimming... and maintenance daily... and disastrous tanks after vaca... and harder to deal with algae... and...

fishrod what plants do you have? Also what type of filteration you running, thats a stunning tank.

Agreed, it does tend to depend on the light. I had 40 watts incandescent over my 10 gallon for a while before switching to CFLs. I do not remember exactly how much I ended up with but it was in the 20-30w range. Both only kept low lights going well...incandescents being painfully inefficient and CFLs having re-strike issues.

I think 30-40 watts of PC or T5 would be enough. But as mentioned lighting is only part of the picture.
