After about 3 months of having my first tank i noticed a small snail crawling around at night... 1 month later there were 5... now there are around 11. I'm starting to think theres a snail infestation going on there. My tank is a 20 galon, so its not too bad right now but my question is, are they good? Do they help out? Or should i get rid of them? And if so, then how? Is there a fast way or just pick them out one by one

They do eat algea and act as scavengers but might overrun a tank if left untouched. I would leave them and if they get bad you can get a type of snail called the assassin snail to take care of them.

You can control the population of snails with proper feeding habits. If you feed too much, the snails can quickly get out of control. They're really neither good nor bad, it's all about whether you like them or not.

If you decide to get rid of them, you can collect them on a piece of veggie and pull them out, or pick them out one at a time and freeze them. Or you can squish them against the glass... your fish will love you for it.
