How long should I leave the light on during the day for my java fern and my other plant to grow? While I'm at how much light should my fish get too?

Java Fern doesn't require a whole lot of light. Do you know the other type of plant you have? Different plants need different amounts. Standard planted tanks have the lights left on for 9-12 hours a day. Fish really don't need to have the lights on nearly as much, but you should be consistant with how long they are left on so the fish get into a cycle.
What type of tank and lights do you have? Are they flourescent or incandescent lights? And what kind of fish?

I wish I could remember the other plant's name, I'll look it later after I do my water change. It's a 20g tank with a single fluorescent light. I haven't been able to find a light that is 25 watts, only ones I found are 20 watt (I suppose those would work though I guess). I got 2 Kenyis and 2 Dickfeld's seem to get a long really well, well before the tank started really cycling anyway; now they're a little more aggressive, I imagine that's from minor stress due to changed tank conditions.
