How do you have the lid anchored to the two by fours?

Very Impressive
Very nice.
Do you have a safety mechanism other than the motor brake?
I'm thinking I'd want some insurance when my head is under there...even just a couple 2x4s to block it open.
Looks like it would be easy to drill holes for pins to lock the tracks in place...

Brian,
The hood is attached to the mechanism with 4 bolts, 2 per side. The bolts can be
removed and the hood lifted off completely.
kj5kb,
I did work on an idea to use pins / gate latch to lock the hood in the up postion
when I was useing weights to lift the hood. The problem is there was only 1 safe
up position and getting the hood to align to the pins would be a time conuming task.
The power lift is rated for 440 lbs. My hood is only a small fraction of that at ~50 lbs.

Wow you really applied some great mechanical skills for easy access to your tank top. Can't understand why Oceanic would stop making hinged doors for their canopy's, cost cutting I suppose.
