Hi!

:1zhelp:

I've heard we can use 'silk' plants in the tanks, but the one I bought has metal bits (the fish can't get to them to get cut, but they'll be in the water) showing in a few places.

I thought metal in tanks was no no???

I'd considered covering the 'points' with something... glue?... but the only thing I've got says not for submerged or bare metal items. And no where around here (that i've found in the past few months anyway) has aquarium safe silicone to use.

Is it safe to use this plant?
I have no idea what metal they use in fake plants.

Any ideas???
Or knowledge about this???

Help!!!!!:nilly::1zhelp:

Thank you. :)

I wouldn't use any plants with metal showing or that contained metal at that. I've used some bought a crafts stores before. Just be real careful and make sure they don't contain metal and if they're painted make sure it doesn't come off easy or dissolves in the tank. Put a drop of vinegar on it and if it starts to dislove the paint trash it. In the past I bought a vine type plastic plant, all plastic single color

100% silicone... hot glue...

also there's lead plant weights that some people use in their tanks. i don't know if they're safe or if anyone here uses them.

OOO! I can use hot glue?! I didn't know that! I've got one of those, lol!

Um, the fish don't nip at the 'glue bubble'?

(Thanks! :) )
