I was thinking about putting this on my 14 gal. the basic hood lights are ugly, specially when im so used to MH's. plus my corals reacted so nicely to my MH's itd be a shame to put them back under normal lights.

What do you guys think!? i means its not 150watt ( i could get that too) but its 70watts of mh as oppsed to basic BC hood lights

I would pick a 150w over a 70w just because there are so many more bulb options to choose from in 150w version and not many at all in 70w.

Sad thing is my 29G softy/anemone+clowns tank is looking better than my 75G SPS tank at the moment. My anemone split a couple days ago so now I have 2. I replaced the larger grain sand I had in it with fine sand and redid the aquascaping with some new rock. I still seem to have 100+ lbs of good live rock sitting in a rubbermaid, every time I rescape I take out rocks it seems and I also picked up a bunch from others over the years so it keeps building up even though I give it away as much as I can. The 75G is on the road to recovery but having to take out my DSB to move the tank then toss all the sand right back in with rocks and fish definately added a "mini cycle" to my tank for a few days and I could see my corals and snails (few died) didn't appreciate it. Cycle seems over now after 3 50% water changes in a week and now things are finally moving in a positive direction.

If you just want the "look" of MH on your Biocube why not just stick some white LEDs on your stock light hood.. I think even an auto parts store like Kragen sells cheap little LED lights that plug into cars. You could get a 12v AC adapter to power it and that would give you the MH "shimmer" without the expense and heat of actually adding a MH light.

Everything seems to to be racting very nicely to my BC hood, and it feels very good to antic lights over the tank again. With the BC Mod i did with the hood and the fan on a timer i have actually kept a steady temp of 79 for an entire 5 days with 0 fluxuation, without the fan over the tank it will raise too 84 in 5 hours no problem.. i figure since the fans already set up and no matter what i do with even florescent lights the problem of heat will always be there so i might as well just put MHS over the tank and make them happy, i might even put another clam back into my tank.. i really only want MHS for the simple fact that everything in my tank started to grow like crazy in 2 months my frog went from 2 head to 5 my zoas went from around 7 to 16 heads and my green palys have almost completly taken over the rock its on! my green leather is huge now too! i dk i do miss the shimmer. i think im gonna put a black clown in there.

anyways im glad it was only snails that died for ya, and heopfully keeps moving along the way it should be.. i used very fine sand in my new tank as well its very nice looking

Is a 70Watt MH (this model) enough to grow all softies/LPS corals
