Okay, it has been a couple of bad days recently (the past 3). It all started on Wed when I look at my tank an hour after lights went on (the 209g) and saw that my lg Mono Argenteus had the lower part of its gill torn and was hanging on by the base of the gill. So I figured great the Queens are getting way too aggressive and growing at WAY to quick of a rate (got one in Jan 03 and the other Feb 03 both were about an inch and both are now well over 6 inches) plus I have recently been toying with the idea of making the tank more peaceful since I'm in college and my mom feeds the tank and she has already been bitten once. So this Mono incident told me it was time to get rid of the Queens, Blue line, and a small Lunare Wrasse, along with moving my Large Lunare, along with a few other triggs out of the 209 so I can make it more peaceful. Plus I wanted 2 show fish and all the rest be cool interesting fish while it used to be tons of triggs and there was no real show fish. So Wed I took my Queens, Blue line, and Lunare Wrasse to Catfish Charlies a local fish store. So by Wed night all the fish I wanted out were out and the tank contained my Clown Trigger, 2 Niger Triggers, 2 Blue Tangs, Clown Grouper, Red Coris Wrasse, Red Breasted Wrasse and Zebra Moray Eel. Everything is now great and I am starting to plan future tankmates (I am getting a Majestic Angel tomorrow :) and in future would like to have a Sohal or Clown Tang, Teardrop Buttefly, Horned Heniochus, among a few others). So today I walk into Catfish and the manager walks up and says "When you dropped off the triggs did one have really shredded fins". I said of course not, they were the picture of health when I brought them in. And the guy says Oh, I should go look at her. So go and look at her and her dorsal and anal fins were completly destroyed (down to the fin spikes and some were below) and had numerous scrapes and blood marks on her body. I almost lost it, the guy said they were closed yesterday and came in today and that was how she looked. She had been put in a 150g tank with the other Queen, Blue line, a large Damsel (all of mine and all she has lived with for the past year) and a 9 inch White Spot Grouper and a 5 inch Soap Crab or something like that. So the guy was like your Queen is trying to kill the other Queen but I still think it was the grouper as many of her marks are far too large for a Trigger bite. As it turns out she is back home with me recouperating and I have named her Samara from The Ring (don't know why just sounds cool, plus both Queens never sleep) and is now in a 55g for the time being. Anyway, sorry for the really long post but I am really annoyed and saddened. I will try and post some pics tomorrow of my poor little girl. Just saying to be careful when bringing some of your personal fish back to a store that already contains some large established tankmates. Anyway, just letting you guys know!

Yikes! That sucks. I've always wondered how often something like that happened--with no rescue in sight for the abused. Really sucks.

It's been a rough week for aquatic critters here too--my red belly newts decided to go for a walk--not sure how they got out, since the tank has only one opening larger than 1/4 of an inch--and I didn't find it quick enough the second time. Sigh. Then, the 2 year old snowflake eel decided to carpet surf as well! Argh! So now the FO has the trigger and the lion--nothing else. Sheesh. And, of course we don't want to add anything until we move up to the 120's--yerks.

It has been a long 24 hours since last night Samara gave up her fight to live and succumbed to her injuries. Very sad time as I had raised her for over a year from 1 inch to 6, and to think she ended up with such a bad fate. I feel terrible for a) letting her go to the fish store and b) for having to watch her slowly waste away. But most other fish are still doing good so thats good. Still having probs with the 209 and the fish inside but have kinda given up caring for now (I know it is not responsible of me but I have spent the past week more depressed than I have ever been and at this point with Samara gone I have pretty well stopped caring. I hope the rest of the fish make it and still feed them like normal but they won't get over their diseases despite all my efforts). Well hope everything is going well with everyone else. I refused to go to Mile High Aquariums today because they had a special on a large Queen Trigger and I couldn't bring myself to go down and see a Samara look a like. Anyway, sorry for rambling on. I'm tired and am going to bed to rest my tired eyes.

Oh, that's sucks. I'm sorry--wish I could say something better, but there's not much that I think of.
