Hi Friends,

Hope all is well !

I just noticed that one of my most fav ( and the largest frontosa ) has a Eye Problem. It looks almost like a cataract - the eye looks as if it is covered with a very thin, translucent white film, with a white dot exactly in the center.

Looks something like this -

Kindly guide me on what this is and how do I treat it...

Thanks and Regards

Hi, nagukush. I just noticed your post. Bump. (this moves it back up to the top)

Hopefully others will see this that may have had this problem and dealt with it successfully, in their experience.

I do this probably is a bacterial infection and the med you mentioned would likely be a good one. Kanamycin or Kanacyn would be good as well.

Please make sure that the water parameters are pristine. Be sure to do frequent water changes so that there are no detectable traces of ammonia or nitrites, and keep nitrates at 20 ppm or less. Usually water quality problems contribute to the development of this problem.

Test daily with a liquid test kit to monitor the parameters; ammonia, nitrite, nitrates, ph. Prime is a good conditioner that will help with traces of ammonia and/or nitrites that may be in the water, detoxifying them for about 24 hours, but frequent water changes are still needed. Pristine water is the best for your fish.

I had a similar problem with a front a few months back and I made sure the water was clean and added melafix/pimafix
it was cured within a week
