There's a number of things it could be hans, fish will do that for quite a few reasons. One could be parasites, generally though if they had a skin borne parasite they would be rubbing their bodies against something, really most things around the mouth would be more likely to cause them to rub their gill area on to it, such as gill flukes. A more likely thing is they are just flashing on things to stir up food. Its a natural action for most fish to do that, I've noticed that guppies will do it quite a lot. Flashing also depends on what kind of fish is doing this, although possible I don't think a larger cichlid would be flashing. So I guess we need a bit more info, what kind of fish is doing it, are there more than one fish in the tank doing it, and where exactly is the fish rubbing its body against the objects. I wouldn't treat anything untill you can identify what the cause is, but thats my opinion.

It is normal for fish to flash, but abnormal if it gets too frequent. If it is obsessive, then something is irritating its gills, either ick or gill flukes.
If you suspect that something is really wrong with your fish, but don't know what exactly, isolate it in a Q-tank & monitor for the next few days.
