Thanks everyone. I am glad you enjoyed the pumpkin. We had fun making it. It was a whole family affair.

I got the idea because I had just met Msjinkzd the weekend before at the Aquafest event in Maryland and the photo thread that Neoprodigy posted had some good pictures in it. The "vampire" spotted nerite was in honor of my recently deceased snail. Jinkzy's scary snail avatar inspired it too!

To those of you suggesting that there was some sucking up going on.....you certainly annoyed me. I'll stop short of saying I was offended because it takes a WHOLE lot to offend me. I hope you feel a little remorse and regret at your thoughts when you hear what I intend to do with the prize.

I almost didn't enter because there was no way I could make use of 5 lbs of fish food for my 10 gallon and 20 gallon tanks occupied by very small fish. The largest fish in my house is a betta! I decided before I entered that if I won, I'd give the food away to members of the community. I've gotten such great help here, I want to pay a little back.

I would like to give some to all the fellow pumpkin entrants and then share what's left with the community.

I'll get the list of entrants from one of the moderators and then I'll be back with info on the rest of the food.

Thanks guys!

The key to the thing is the tools. I used wood carving tools. A small V shaped gouge made the hair. The teeth were cut completely through but the rest of it was not. Various thicknesses of pumpkin flesh determine the different levels of light that come through. It was fun! Digging out the flesh from the inside helped with the transparency too. I especially liked the little spotted nerite snail. I miss mine. RIP little snaily.

really great work, puppyfluffer... Congrats on the win... And stop being so modest! It takes more than just tools to pull that off. ;)

Yeah, it does take more than just tools....but having the right tools goes a long way is assisting what ever skill is there!

Dog grooming is an art. It's sculpture and I have over 20 years in the field.

 Congratulations! Great job on the pumpkin and I applaud your generosity toward your fellow carvers. Sucking up is a fine American tradition, so go for it. And "bah humbug" to those who tried to make you feel guilty. Wish you lived near me so I could use you to groom the two standard poodles I want to get (no froo-froo, just sport clip with shaved beaks and feet). Congrats, again!!

Pitbull, you're sweet.
I got the idea for the pumpkin because I had just met Msjinkzd, the vampire snail with bloody fangs met me every time I logged onto the main page and I love my snails!

I just got the food a few days ago and will PM all the others who entered the contest to see what kind of food they want. Five pounds of fish food is a whole lot of food! If there is extra left over, I'll share with the general membership.

I've only gotten a response from 2 fellow AC pumpkin carvers and your food will go out soon. All the rest of you have 24 hours to either reply to this thread or PM me before I offer food to the whole community in a Random Act of Kindness (RAOK) thread in the Marketplace forum.

You really are an artist, Puppyfluffer, and I think your choice of Jinks and one of her ferocious vampire snails was way cool!

(I was surprised, though, most people don't know about her black market involvement in vampire snail traficking.)

Way to go! You deserved to win. What a generous gesture to share with the others.

Ooops... accidentally left out an "f" in trafficking.... I hate it when that happens.
