I just got a Cherry Red Shrimp yesterday and put her in her new tank. I saw her running aroung before i went to bed, around Midnight. Now i can't find her! There are places to hide though i searched all morning. Do you think she is a) hiding or b) crawled out?
I dont know much and she is my first shrimp. Can shrimp climb out of the tank? I didnt think so... I don't think anyone ate her because i have just livebearers in there w/ plenty of places to hide.
HELP ME!!!:1zhelp:

They are really good at hiding, don't worry about it. But you only got 1 shrimp?

How big was your shrimp? Livebearers can eat them depending on the size of the shrimp.

she was 1/2 inch to 1 inch
the store keeper said she would be fine in there...

Don't trust storekeepers...especially ones peddling $8 cherry shrimp. What kind of filter do you have? They like crawling up the filter intake.

Some people that work at those fish stores or pet stores don't know much sometime. Get your advice on this web site or other fish forums. Other fish will eat the shrimps if their is not enough hiding places. I have mine with a bushy nosed pleco that is safe and some tiny endlers. Tetras sometimes prey on them.
I have a fine netting over my intake vavle. Check your filter box as they can get sucked up in that. You can use panty hose or or a old fish net to cover the intake. I used tie wraps to attach it but you can use a rubberband. http://www.aquabid.com has great prices on the shrimps I got 10 for $14 plus $11 shipping and got a plant and some extra shrimp sent to me my a Missfish. I hope you find your lost shrimp.

...just a thought... check the canister... unless the intake is wrapped it might...fit

Definately check the inside of your filter. The first time I cleaned my canister filter I didn't know better and lost half a dozen down the drain. Now I dump my filter through a large net into a bucket! I haven't lost any more since. There were even babies in the canister that must have hatched in there.
