Well, I just spent a decent sized amount of time cleaning and rescaping my tank, a task that's been a bit overdue. That's not entirely due to laziness ( honest!)- I tend to worry a little too much about stressing out my fish.
The bad news: I found a dead oto which, along with Xeno the betta, have been temporarily relocated to the 20 gallon until I get a better heater for the 10 gallon.
The good news: Way in the bank where the amazon swords are, I found a few valiantly struggling shoots of tall sagitaria! I had some before, but they didn't last long in my tank for some reason. But there they were and who the heck knows how they got there.
I removed a large piece of driftwood because it was cluttering up the tank and made it too difficult to vacuum the substrate. The swords were also pruned up a bit, then re-positioned. Last but definitely not least, I gave the whole "dry parts" of the tank a thorough wipedown- the outside of the filter, the glass barrier on top, everything.
A labor or love, lol. And it made such a difference- the tank looks so much more open, but the swords provide plenty of cover in the back. It's been funny to watch the red phantoms re-stake out their own little territories. As soon as I tweak things a bit more, I'll post a few pics of it. It's a modest tank, compared to others many here... but- I've worked really hard on it, and I'm proud! LOL!
