i've kept clowns for a few years and was wondering how slowly do these guys grow? and when should i change their diet from flakes, frozen shrimp, frozen bloodworms, veggie flakes, and sinking shrimp pellets. do they eat larger and healthier sized food items? i've read up on them enough to know the basics, but i'd like to know a bit more.... our wonderful public library has reduced hours so trying to get there when they are open is a major PAIN!

I believe that you can feed food sizes relative to the size of their mouth. they don't really care either way but a 12 inch clown loach (and I have seen bigger) would need much more brine, per se, then a 3-inch individual. I believe they grow fairly quickly until they reach 6 inches at which point they slow down but will continue to grow and exceed 10 inches under proper care.

i've read that, but what is the timetable. is that 6 inches in 2 years, or 5 years? i'm just curious. also what is good things to feed them when they are larger... i've never had to feed large fish (above 4").
