I've recently picostamus and algea eaters in the same ad. It also seems that gourami is a very hard word to spell as I've seen it spelled about 5 different ways and none correct.

C'mon like George Carlin said "Think about how stupid the average person is, and then realize 1/2 of them are more stupid than that!" It doesn't surprise me when some schlub on the street can't spell gourami. What gets me is when I see the names misspelled on tanks at an LFS.

Same here.
TI see people selling octagon aquariums with six sides.
I just checked my local craigslist and found a 44 gallon "octagon" aquarium with five sides. The ad did not say that it had five sides but the picture showed a five sided tank.

"Latino cockatiels" are my favorite. I know its not fish-related, but I could see it happening with certain species of fishes as well.

I heard someone pronounce cichlids as "childs" once. I didn't even say anything about how many letters he dropped. I met a 6 year-old kid at an LFS who could pronounce Corydoras agassizii correctly!!!! It's not that hard people!

That's funny, since 10 gallons are only 16" long :screwy:

But it's not pc to correct someone to their face! Or screen as the case may be! You might do irreparable harm to their fragile self esteem. And spelling doesn't really count anyway. At least that's what those who can't spell say!

Grammar is excusable since we aren't writing formally imo.

Neither, but it's best not to correct people. I used to correct people online until I found out how many people misunderstood it (and consequently my intentions). It just gets blown out of proportion after that and isn't worth it.
