Staples just started carrying these OXO Good Grips(tm) Small Magnetic Clip (http://www.staples.com/OXO-GOOD-GRIPS-Small-Magnetic-Clips/product-nr_760646)and sent me a lovely email about it. at first i was so overjoyed i was about the delete the email but then the lightbulb slowly flickered for a second or two.

one) i was wondering if you think these are aquarium safe? i am goign to guess that they are but just wondering if anyone has any idea.

two) obviously it wont stick to my glass tank... but it might stick to a) a piece of metal on the other side of the glass, but that might scratch the glass when attempting to move the veggie clip towards the bottom/middle of my tank, or b) the outside piece of my mag-float

so i was thinking: mag float + oxo magnetic clip = no more forks in aquarium or wet arms

Hmm, I like your thinking. I think I'd use the Magfloat to get it to stick to the glass, but then would the magnet on the clip be strong enough to go through the glass?

I'd be concerned that maybe the color or some chemical might leech out from the plastic, but I have no idea if these would be safe or not.

If its aquarium safe you would probubly need to use another magnet to have enough power through thick glass like 1/2 inch just like a magnet glass cleaner both are magnets. You might get away using your magnet glass cleaner outside the tanks and the clip magnet inside the tank with a thin piece of silk plant material over the clip magnet to protect the inside glass from a scratch. But if its a rubber magnet it should be fine.
