Has anyone used this filter intake before? I just bought a new Eheim filter, and it came with the the "fancy" grey intakes. At first I was psyched, because I figure grey is much better than the green intakes I've been reading about, but now it looks like air is leaking into the filter through the intakes.

Just for yucks, I removed the intakes, and put the hoses directly into the tank, and the problem went away. When I connect the intakes again, I can see air creeping down the hose into the filter.

I used the little O rings when assembling the tube, and I tried opening the cap and pouring water into it, but when the filter comes on, the tube is still sucking up air somehow.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
James

I bought the unit from F&Smith but have yet to run it....

I needed it for a Fluval 403 I have, just have not needed the filtration.

I use them on all three of my eheims. Are you sure you put the o-rings on each piece, including the top piece with the cap? Also, make sure you tightened the hose nut on the intake pipe.

I've installed two sets of the new intakes and have had no issues in the lat year of operation. Check out all o-rings, make sure they are all solid and havent rolled, and that you used enough force and pressed them together tight enough. The cap that used for priming or cleaning has an o-ring too.
