I am always looking for great books to read up on. I have a couple right now that I like. The first one is Goldfish Breeding and Genetics. Its ok some of the info is generic but has some great info on domestication and evolution.

The second one is Fancy Goldfish, which I believe to be the "Bible" on goldfish. The 2 authors are highly regarded in the goldfish world. Must have.

Does anyone else suggest and other "Good Reads"?

Your book on fancy goldfish who is the author :) mine is by paul paradise. I would like to find a goldfish/coldwater book that is more advanced and not for beginners like most you find in a book store.

I have the Johnson / Hess book- looked forward to it terribly then consumed it in one big greedy go. It is wonderful but I wish it could have been five times larger.

I lucked into a great title on Ebay- "Chinese Goldfish" published by Tetra Press 1990 ISBN # 7-119-00408-5.
It chronicles Goldfish keeping from the very beginning - the discovery of an orange fish. We see photos of great fishkeeping operations that use no modern equipment- aged water carried by humans is the only way they had and many still practice those methods of handling water. The acres of vats are impressive!
There are super photos of varieties I've never seen in the US- Goose heads, Frog heads, reverse gills, High heads, Jadestones- it was a great find!!

Yes. I got mine for something like $2 on Ebay- it was the luckiest find I've had in a while book wise!

Goldene, I bought mine from amazon.com. I looked to see if they had anymore but they were out. I also checked Goldfish Connection for you, instead of me trying to explain here is a link to the page:
