Do I need to be concerned? He kind of shook it off , do you think he'll be ok? I am at work for the next three hours.

Take him to the vet right away! Many animals are allergic to bee stings and you also have to get the stinger out ASAP.

really he should be fine, is there someone who can monitor for allergic reaction? If you take him in, they will likely give him an injection of diphenhydramine (benadryl)

Is this the first time he's been stung? If so, he shouldn't have a reaction at all. Your body needs to build up an allergic reaction (without getting too technical :) ) and the first exposure to an allergen won't cause anaphylaxis... the bad type of reaction.
If he has been stung before, reactions to bees manifest quickly, like within a couple minutes. If he's fine now, I would think that he'll continue to be fine.
But.... I'm not a vet.

My cat has been stung by bees a few times. She has a slight reaction. I freaked out and took her to the vet when I noticed it. He told me to just give her a little bit of benadryl when it happens. A lot more cost effective than getting a shot every time. You can also make a paste of asprin and water to draw out the venom... for future reference since your cat was stung in the mouth. You just have to make sure you watch the cat and let the paste sit on the area for a while without the cat licking it off.

many people show a severe allergic reaction with their first sting; its genetic. dont know if that applies to cats though.

Thanks for your quick responses, I'll go check on him now.
My dog used to get bit in the mouth by bees, her mouth would swell up (thats how we'd know) but eventually it'd go away.

that cat is fine, I never saw a stinger.

I believe aspirin is toxic to cats. Also, salt or baking soda works just as well.

I am aware that it is toxic to cats... hence the reason i said to make sure the cat doesn't lick it.

my dog tries to eat wasps. she eats it. get stung, spits out an angry wet wasp that cant fly because its weighted down by dog saliva. that she eats it again and gets stung again, spits it out, repeat several times. than she figures out to step on it and kill it, than eat it.
