Hi
Just a quick question i have recently bought a product to increase my ph. it says on the bottle increases alkalinity and decreases acidity. now my question is will this also increase my carbonate hardess or is alkanlinity and carbonate hardness the same thing.
Or should i buy another product that says increases carbonate hardness.

What exactly is in the product? Sounds like it probably contains sodium carbonate, especially if it is designed to raise pH.

Carbonate hardness and alkalinity aren't necessarily the same thing, but carbonate/bicarbonate makes up the bulk of alkalinity and is what corals require, which is why we primarily only concentrate on it.
