I went to the LFS earlier today to get some food for my convict pair and decided to look around at other fishes and I couldn't resist buying a Ryukin and Oranda. So i brought them home and set them up in a 20 gallon. I then started doing some research and a lot of people are saying I need 20 gallons of water for the first fancy goldfish then 10 gallons for every other goldfish after that. So should I go out and get a bigger tank? My 20 gallon is filtered by an AC 110 and AC 20 which I think should be enough......

Get a bigger tank! As well, most goldfish enthusiasts will tell you to overfilter your water so that you get turnarounds from 3-5 times per hour! Goldfish are messy little buggers!

A 75g would be nice. It makes your options with fancy goldfish much more flexible and they will have enough space to swim and grow. If you're in USA, check Craigslist for tank deals. If this isn't an option due to space and money, a 55g will still work but it's narrower.

Despite the need for the space which the 55 will provide, you will need it for the next ones you buy....you won't be able to resist doing so....

Alright I'll start looking for a bigger tank for these small adorable fish who are going to grow huge :D
