I hope you have plans for a bigger set up. 1 turtle needs a bigger setup then 40 gallons when they get bigger.
Good luck. Please research the adult needs before you purchase. Also check with lfs and rescue groups as many people turn in turtles when they get bored, or tired of cleaning the tanks.

Don't buy from Turtlesale.com
Once upon I time I was a bit of a turtle hobbiest, and was part of a turtle forum (kinda a turtle version of AC)
Anyways Turtlesale was infamous there, there were tons of reports of baby turtles arriving in envelopes, smashed. and the few that were alive when they arrived were deformed or diseased.
Turtlesource.com is a bit pricey for my taste, but I've heard nothing but quality reports on them.
I always wanted a Razorback Musk turtle, they stall small, cute and easy to care for.

If Kyryah doesn't chime in you could pm her, she has lot of turtle experience.

you'll need a huge tank for a turtle...a 40 breeder wont be enough for long.

Might help if this was moved to the terrarium/paludarium forum.

do research and get a turtle that will stay small as possible lol. A red eared slider can get 10+inches. There are some out there that stay around the 3-6inches and would be easier to maintain.

If you want to keep a turtle in that sized tank for life then look at Musk Turtles and new world Mud Turtle Species. Almost all other species need a larger tank to thrive.
