right so was over at home depo looking for silicone for a project and wasn't able to find GE silicone I in black, but id did notice that silicone II had a new look to it and that it didn't advertise the bio-guard any more. so i thought i would read through through the labeling and couldn't find any thing about mold or milder resistances? is the new and improved silicone II safe for use in aquariums or is the bio-guard just not advertised any more?

edit: it also says 100% silicone

hmm, i guess if it doesnt say anything about the bio gaurd it must be ok. idk, i guess you could try it and find out... sorry to say it, but there is no better way to find out.

good luck!

there's probably an 800 number on the back, try calling it and asking the company.

i would be careful with it, geII has always said 100% silicone, call and check, but i believe it is still mold and mildew resistant.

well dam i used it any way in a viv so will see how it works for just plants. probably will give them a call later tomorrow verify. i would hate it if it was in some of the small print on the back and i just missed it.

it doesn't really hurt the fish or plants so much as mess with your biological life, a lot of times the constant leaching of certain chemicals that control mold and mildew also "control" your biological filtration.
