Hey all,
I just noticed a lump in my platy's tail that I previously considered as just a lighter spot. It is definitely under her scales. It isn't fuzzy or anything - it's just a lump.
I don't think it's a parasite, unless she is just getting old and immunocompromised. I've had her for over 1.5 years, and she was given to me by a friend as an adult. How long do platy's normally live? I don't know how old she was when I got her.
She has also been in the same tank with the same decorations and tank mates for over a year (one molly, six neon tetras, 10g, planted, very peaceful). She is playful, still eats, does not appear to be stressed, doesn't flash, etc.
Maybe it's a benign tumor? I can't get a picture of it because every time I approach the tank she gets excited and starts swimming around in front of the glass. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this before?
