Hey all..quick question..
My 60 gal tank is on a stand and on carpet.

While it is level....it seems to "shake" back a forth a bit. (i notice it if I walk by..or the dog runs by)

Im guessing this is because the carpet can compress a bit causing it to move a bit.

this kinda has me worried...is there anything I could do to make it sturdy?

I was thinking wedge something between the stand and wall to help brace it more...any ideas?

thanks

My 55 used to shake a bit when people walked by. I had it setup on the ground floor for years so depending on how much it shakes, it should be OK.

Mine is just a metal stand...but it shakes enough when the kids run by that I have no doubt handles would shake!!!

I have a 60 gal on carpet, too. The stand has a continuous back with two front feet. I took (2) 8.5 x 11 pieces of paper, folded them each in half four times, and wedged them (with the help of my roommates to tilt the tank back enough but prevent it from falling) under the front two feet. That stabilized it very well - my cat tried to jump up on it the other day and the little handles didn't even jiggle.

Good luck!

Just an opinion, but I think that as long as the tank and stand jiggle as a a unit it will alright. flexing of the assembly could be a little iffy.

My 45G rattles too. I have the same handles you described as well!:) I wouldn't worry too much about it.

IF THERE IS A WAY TO SECURE IT TO THE WALL BY ALL MEANS DO SO, WHY TAKE CHANCES....BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY.
