Nikon D200 with a Nikkor 18-135mm lens

Any experience or comments on either? I came accross a great deal for the pair, and am strongly considering it, instead of getting a new nikon d5000. I'd rather have a higher powered dslr with more options, than an "entry level" type dslr (like the d5000 or d60).

So, and opinions and/or comments on either?

That is an exceptional camera, the lens is a good solid performer.

It struggles at high ISO but its a nice bulletproof older (now) camera!

Canon 40D would be a better choice in this range.

If the price is right go for it. They're fantastic cameras. The D5000 will have fewer (and more expensive) lenses to choose from. The D200 will work with old film lenses that you can pick up fairly inexpensively.

40D has better noise performance, expanded ISO range, faster shooting, WB shift, bigger screen, live view, dust reduction, I could go on and on.. oh and it's cheaper.
