Do siemese fighting fish....sorry about the spelling....do they go with community tank. I have 4 clown loaches, 3 bala sharks, 1 red tail black shark and 1 convict baby (cos it found its baby siblings tasty)

Rhys,

It will depend entirely on the colouration of the fighter you have intentions of putting in. I would only have concerns about your Red Tailed shark, you'll probably have a few problems with it if you introduce a red male into the tank. If you are introducing females, you shouldn't have a problem.

IMO, the rest of the tank mates would be OK though.

Remember though, only put one male in the tank and if you put any females in, give him at least three so that he doesn't wear them out (if he is dominant).

Good luck

sharks are triggered by fish with similar body shape and of similar color. If I were you I would move the RTS if you could, but try the blue betta first.

I have got the betta in there and it is blueish white and the red tail black shark is ignoring it. In fact the Clown Loaches are more interested int the betta.

I've never had a Betta iwth RTS, but have had several different colors with Bala Sharks and never had a problem with that, but Bettas and Gouramis....now, that's a different story.

Yeah, the Gourami is in the same family as the Betta and the finnage is somewhat similar, so they fight, the problem is I had four Gouramies and one Betta....guess who lost.

Hiya,

Not sure if this is helpful or not but I have in my tank 6 female bettas (blue/red/pinky brown), I added a blue male betta and a baby RTBS yesterday and straight away the females were booting the RTBS all over the tank. He didnt get any peace until the male stepped in and restored order.

My last RTBS was a soft as they came, even the white mountain minnows kicked his arse out of the plants....as for the clown loaches...they were De Management

Regards
Claire

I think it really depends on the particular fish. As even the same species of fish have different / unique personalities.

I've kept my Betta for 2 months now with Lace Gouramis, 3 Spot Gouramis plus a few other non gouramis and they were all peacefully co-existing. I also think it's got to do with tank size? If the Better feel he has enough territory to himself.

My better usually just swim across the tank end to end all day long ignoring the gouramis.

On rare occassions he does chase the mail 3 spot away from his little corner of the tank above the filter outlet. But the better never chase for more than 2-3 seconds before returning to the corner to rest.

If you've got a second tank to relocate aggresive fishes (as in my case) you can certainly give it a try.
