My 4 year old first had it 3 weeks ago, no fever or anything like that, just a deep non productive cough. Then I get it, it's been 2 weeks. Now my husband has it, it's been a week. So now all 3 of us are hacking away. Sometimes you hack up green chunks but most of the time it's nothing. When I lay down, i sound like I have rice crispies in my lungs.
Funny thing is we all feel fine, except for the muscles that are used when you cough. I hear other people when I'm out and about with it too. I don't know how long I'm contagious for, so I'm avoiding school functions and girl scout functions. But I'm going on 3 weeks and have to take my daughter to girl scout stuff.

I had the same thing for about a week -- lots of coughing, but no other major symptoms. I attribiuted it to the drop in temperatures recently, which I think shocked my system a bit.....
Here is so-cal a drop to the 50's at summer's end feels like the start of the next ice age. :)

no. but i look forward to getting it!
i always like when you get that one perfect cough that launches that green wad of goo straight out of your mouth and usually lands on your shirt or pant leg. this usually happens when you are alone and find no reason to cover your mouth. yum!

Sounds like what I have. I got something 5 weeks ago, and all I had was a cough and I was tired. Then, about 1 week ago, I got a runny nose to go along with it. I'm still coughing up mucus and having runny nose and its been 5 and a half weeks! Its not from a lack of sleep either! Almost every night I'm getting 8-10 hours of sleep! It's frustrating and annoying, but not too bad. I just wish it would end! :irked: I'm wondering if its a week for of swine flu (H1N1) or something...

Yeah My 2 boys have it , my husband has it, but not me..( and I am the only smoker here LOL)
My little one has a sinus infection and is on Amoxociilan and after a few days of meds his cough is almost gone. But my oldest and my husband were told by the doctors that its do to alergies that are supposed to be really bad this time of year. Like wet moldy leaves on the ground, etc.
My little guy just started back to preschool last friday ( out cause he was sick with the cough) So I was told on monday that a child in his preschool has a confirmed case of the SWINE FLU!!! So he is home again today . I am not taking any chances!!!

Got a terrible case of the flu about three weeks ago and I am left with THE COUGH. Try Bee M.D. cough drops, they taste horrid sorta like honey mixed with vicks but they are the best cough drops I have found.

Yea, my boy friend has had something like that for the past 2 weeks or so. It started with a sore throat and a head ache, then a fever, and now hes got a cough and an on and off fever. His cough sounds pretty nasty. He thought it was a sinus infection, but when he went to the doctor they said it was an upper respiratory infection and that it should be clearing up in a few days. He says that the cough is getting worse and I believe him!

my 7 yr old son has the cough, a little phlegm but he doesn't know how to spit out the sputem yet, swallows it, yuck! no fever running nose or cold, just the cough. feel so bad for him.
my wife, being the affectionate one, warned her to stop kissing him espec. on the lips. well, she's learning her lesson (how many times in the past??) so she got it pretty bad, so bad she had to cancel a biz trip to turks & caicos.
daughter, myself, grandparents lucky so far not to catch it. the hacking cough is the worst - I would cough so hard & loud I would get headaches (I use to get it every dec/jan. & it would literally last weeks on end!). definitely a virus (some say could be allergies but don't think so).
get well again & stay healthy all!

I believe they call this a parainfluenza. Honey based cough syrup works best for us but don't give any honey based products to babies. That plus an extra pillow, humidifier, and vicks vapor rub seem to help with sleep for the little ones.
Breeze make sure you go the hospital if you do get really sick to your tummy. During one of my pregnancies I caught the flu and had been sick both ways for only 1 day and felt dizy and decided to go to the ER. I just got the fluids in time and almost lost the baby. Dehydration comes much quicker when preggie.

Yep, but then I have asthma and allergies, so I pretty much have had a cough, runny nose, sneezes, and/or itchy eyes since last spring. Okay, last fall. But, I'm moving out of our mold-ridden, who-knows-what's-in-it trailer house this month! WooHoo! Hopefully, that will help quiet down my asthma & allergies so that my other health stuff can settle or at least become clear as a problem instead of just part of my allergies.
