Hi all,
I'm a newbie here an enjoy the forum..
I am looking for two particular species of fish, both of which I used to own. First is a freshwater Baracuda..I have seen info on in the past, but can't seem to find now. I vaguely remember the scientific name as Chicleadea or something like that..If anyone has any knowledge of them I would really like to know...The other is a freshwater moray eel...ty

Just intrested to find out what size tank you get for something like that? 500? 600? That's my dream in a year or so. They sound like a couple awesome fish to have. Don't know anything about em but this site has a ton of species info. Not sure if they have those, gonna check. I'll keep an eye on this forum.

Check fish base.

The closest true moray eel that is fresh water is the American eel--and aside from being a nasty, tough customer, it gets 5-6 feet in length. Not sure about the barracuda, but fishbase should have info. Also, predatoryfish.net may help you out as well.

hey Travelin...
Thanks for the reply...I had them in a 120 Long...hmmm..dimensions I am thinking are 72" L x 24" H and 18" deep...They were really cool fish. They were small fish when I bought them, and grew to 6 to 8 in. in 2 years. I kept them with 2 Arrowanna (which I saw in your pic, very cool) a South Am. Redtail Cat. and a Tiger shovelnose cat....Funny story, cuz I think the Redtail kept the peace in there..I sold the Redtail and 2 days later the Tiger ate all but the eel...I couldn't believe the bulge in his belly...Moral?
Never trust a Tiger...LoL

LOL!! I just saw a pic last week of a cat eating a knife. I would hate to spend that kind of money on a fish and have it eatin.

I would be worried having a cuda in a tank like that. If it's anything like it's cousin in the gulf they would have a hard time turning. I have a 24 inch arowana. Tank dimensions are 48LX24DX30H. He turns okay in 24 inch depth, but he is snake like. A cuda seems to me like he would have a hard time turning in a tank like that. Gotta go to a 400-600 in about a year cause "Grumpy" will be too big at the rate of growth right now. Can't wait!! :D

Unfortunately, I am not a member of that board, and am not sure who all here may be able to help. Hopefully, someone will volunteer to help you out.

they take fishbase.net down for updating/maintenence on a regular basis... try it again in a few days and you might have better luck with it
