I would like to say a cobalt blue zebra but I have that same fish in mine as well. I would really like to know what kind of fish that is for future refrence.
definetly a convict on the shape of the dorsal fin.

Definitely no convict!
It’s either one of those already mentioned like a Zebra, or it could be a Labidochromis sp. gigas. Even a Tropheus sp. has the same coloration like the one you have. It’s hard to tell from the pictures you have taken.

i actually went out today to find an answer for you but then there was no hope. I walked into the last shop and found a fish taht just looks like it, a kennyi, if im right. That should be your fish.

It could possibly be a female kenyii but the stripes look different. Female kenyii stripes are darker and thicker http://perso.club-internet.fr/burnel/Mal/Mlombardoi_fem.jpg

but look at the first pic, it matches up perfectly.

doesn't look like it matches to me. The first pics stripes are skinny and close together, plus they aren't dark enough. They look like the barring you might see aulonocara(nots saying its a peacock though, just that the stripes are similar).
Kenyii have dark black bars on a bright blue body.Very bold markings, the pics that he gave us jsut dont' show that(atleast to me).PLus there seems to be more stripes then i have ever seen on a kenyii.
Try to compare this one with yours.

Doesn't look like any female kennyi I've ever seen, either. Mine all have 5-6 dark bars, max. The pic directly above looks like a good match...

kooter, how many dark bars do your female kennyi have?
My kennyi have fewer bars and are less torpedo shaped than Andy's seem to be.

The labidochromis looks like it might be it. It has the same body shape and the colors are somewhat similar.

I just counted the bars and there's 9! Geez, maybe Petsmart isn't so smart after all! LOL. I may have one of those lab freib guys :D

kooter, if the tank you're keeping it in is only 33 gallons, you're probably lucky you didn't get a kennyi. They're too much for a tank that small. Even the females. Labidochromis species would probably do better, but not optimally, in a tank that size.

yeh, you're probably right. I think I got lucky. All my fish are doing excellent. They "live" very well together. I wish I had a digital camera......hopefully soon! :) I am going to read up on my new found species now!
