my friend has a pond, and this is really my friend not me, and he has been running it for years, and i didn't know that it actually had any fish in it until a few days ago, but like he doesn't ever do water changes and then yesterday his filter had a leak in it and he fixed it and then just put hose water into the pond and didn't use any dechlorinator to condition the water. are there any substitutes that you can find in your home to condition water?

I doubt there's anything you have in your house to use as a home dechlorinator. They used to use Sodium Thissulfate in dechlroinators -- but there are other chemicals used as well now that most water companies also ad chloramines. Go to the pet store tommorrow and go buy a big bottle of dechlorinator -- I think it's your only choice

It's fine for ponds, use a tsp of crystals per 250 gals of water. It's called "hypo" in photography and is used in developing pictures.
