i've been hearing
mixed things on this fish - i need you guys to come up big for me here!!! i have a 55 gal community tank - lots of catfish though- i was reading last night online somewhere that rams are mainly bottom dwellers and see catfish as enemies - i have 7 albino corie,s 3 clown loaches, pictus cat - im worried bout my cories cause we all know how gentle they are i don't want the rams ripping them up? has any one has experience with this?
the rest of my tank i know is compatible or so i've been told - angels, gouramis, livebearers -
thanks!!!!!!

IMO the pictus cat is a horrable comunity fish his constant motion will drive that ram nuts and most the other fish.
Try a bolivion ram would work a lot better cooler fish IMHO

my pictus isnt too bad except when i feed him for the most part it just swims in one corner of the tnak it's such a cool fish though
it sort of looks out of place though - i kinda think it needs a bigger tank i thoguth 55 g was enough but it's growing n seems cramped even though physically it fits in there fine with plenty of swimming room but it is a nutty fish

The cories will be fine with a pair of rams. I have pair of kribs (slightly more aggressive than a pair of rams) in my 38g with 4 cories with little trouble.
Edit: You might get more replies and better answers in the cichlid forum.

I have a few with my Angels, cories, and skunk loaches (as well as a RTS and a pleco) with no problem at all. At first I started with 2 and they seemed ok, no one bothered anyone...... a couple nights ago, I added a few more and none of my rams have even gone up to investigate any cories or the loaches. I don't have any personal experience with the pictus though so can't offer anything on them. I guess as with anything, start small and see how it goes with careful watching, then if you feel comfortable and you have the room, go for a few more....I'm sure you'll love them.
