I've had one on my 20 gallon fresh for over a year and it hasn't given me a problem yet. I'm waiting for it to die, but it just doesn't.

I now have 6 tanks and 5 of them have TopFin PowerFilter 10's in them. I have not had an issue with any of them. They are also very quiet for me. I will admit that they are made of a cheap plastic but they do their job very well.

I have found out that all Top Fin filters are manufactured by Tetra/Whisper. The only lack their version of the bio wheel.

I still have had VERY good luck with those filters. I now have 7 of them in operation and not a problem yet.

LOL I hate them they are cheap and not very good. I will tell that to pretty much anyone who buys one at my store.
The one thing that is good about them is the lifetime garrantee. Although they have just also released a better filter cartrage with zeolite that seems to be quite a bit better.

The part that they are missing is the slide in sponge for biological filtration. The only filter with a bio wheel is the Penguin. These things are the Tetra equivilent of the Penguin knock-off that Walmart sells. They are virtually identical to the regular Tetra filters otherwise (including the cheap plastic). For the money, I like Penguins and Penplax Cascade better. Look on Big Als, That Fish Place, or Fosters & Smith for better prices.
