ok my q - i bought a couple of albino cories to go with the group of em i already have , they are currently in my q tank - however i noticed with them their stomachs have a very dark internal spot almost like a gravid spot but they are very young - is this normal i know because of their coloration you coul prob see a spot internally on them - on my other cories you used to be able to see this but not nearly as easily as this ?
i think it's prob normal but can't be sure pls help!
thank you
LMB
I have always seen that dark spot on my cory and assume it is just a view of the internal organs. Cories are egg layers and so to my knowledge wouldn't have a gravid spot.

My female bronze cories definitely show the eggs when they're gravid. It's a large white bulge and they get REALLY fat. When you see that, turn off the filter for a few days to let the water get dank, then do a 85% water change with cooler water and turn off the heater, turning the filter back on. That should trigger spawning.
They'll also spawn without any triggers. I have a 10g that is almost solid java moss for a corie grow out tank. A couple weeks ago I checked up on the cory babies that I'd put in there 8 months ago and found that it was a 50/50 mix of 1.5" and 1/2" cories. Apearantly they are on generation 3 and I never noticed.

these dark splotches interanlly that i can see are normal???
also do cories cross breed for instance say albino wuth emeral green???
I believe they can cross breed. And from my experience you don't have to turnt eh filter off, that could potentially ruin your filter media, IMO. I just do a normal 20% water change with cooler water and the spawning begins.
Chances are that your cory eggs won't hatch but it is fun to watch them spawn and watch the female lay eggs all around the tank.
