saw some small ones in the lfs they were very nice looking they were young at first thought they were rams - but their not - they were in a tank with goldskirt tetras maybe because they are so small now - must be why some tetras were missing eyeballs though ! lol - any how anyone know anything bout these are they the same as regular jacks??? aggression wise

Definitely not normally as aggressive as a regulr dempsey... slower growing and maybe not as hardy as well.

I have 2 BDs. I talked to my regular LFS. They gave me some insight as well. They told me that some LFS will try to make some extra bucks by dying a regular JD to make it look Blue. I don't know how true that is.

Mine came from Jeff Rapps, so they can't be fake :D

Anyway, not all BDs are weak or aggressive. One of mine is very weak (health wise). Can't deal with polluted water. Either have some skin infection or popeye or sunk eye. So far, he is still alive (and the biggest one). The other one, maintain beautiful coat and can deal with polluted water. I have never seen him gotten sick. However, this beautiful one is very timid. He can't deal with aggressive fish. Where as the weak one will do all the chasing and biting. It really depends. They are like any cichlids. You can either end up with a weak, timid, strong, healthy, or aggressive.

i have one of Jeff's as well about 2 years old now.

He's got the same symptons peifc's and i believe is totally blind. it's ok as it is kind of a "frankenstien" fish. I care for him a great deal and make sure he is fed and can find the food, he is timid he bothers no one and no one bothers him, also very slow growing.

i bought four in august. i still have three. one of them just up and died one day. wasnt sick or anything. i came home and he was stuck up against the intake for my filter. the o ther one that was his tankmate seems to have some sort of skin infection on his forehead. he acts ikay thoug. the other two in my other tank are really healthy and doing great. they do grow alot slower than regular dempsies tho. good luck.
