If my fish tank on a stand is placed in proximity (say 4-8 feet) of a subwoofer that sees some high volume, will the fish be affected? I'm worried I might hurt their air sacs or otherwise kill them if they're in the same room as a sub. Anyone with experience or ideas?

The best way is to try it out--start at lower volumes, and gradually turn it up. They definitely react--all my fish hide if I crank the stereo much. If you see the fish hide and the water starts jumping, you may have a problem. If they just dart in, but come back out normally in a few minutes, you should be fine.

I think you should think about how you would feel if someone outside your room started banging a huge drum at random times during the day and night while you eat, sleep, and go about your day.
I'm not an old grandpa or anything...I have two 12'' subs in my truck, and I know how loud they get. I think that a sub would really irritate the fish. As if they weren't terrified enough being stuck in a little glass box. Just my 2 cents...no offense.
