i know you guys are sick of hearing about my first sw tank and its small, but all i can set up is a 10 or a 15, first off with the 15 be better or no difference,
i want a snail, a shrimp and a royal gramma if i can do them that would be great,
my heater would be a stealth
my filter would be a aquaclear 50, is that enuff for this tank, and what do i put in the filter
what kind of lighting would be needed, i would like some mushroums and maybe some others
any buffers need to be added?
i think thats all the questions i have for now
i would use 1 koralia 1 or should i use 2

The more water the better, period. (I have a 20 long, and made a five gallon sump...) second, ac 50, along with the korelia 1 would be great, since live rock should be your main filtration, just use two sponges in the ac, and clean them when you do your weekly 10-15% water changes.

For additives, just use a good sea salt mix, and if you go with corals, just keep your calcium up around 420-450 ppm, and some coral may do well with iodine.

for lighting, get a t5 or two over the tank, and you could do many different corals if you wanted.

your stocking plan is fine, but I will warn you, the commonly available peppermint shrimp will eat your corals (not mushrooms, but many of the LPS)...

You could do a bunch of hermits, and a few turbos for algae. Keep up with the tank, and a fifteen will be fine!

could i put a fire angel in their too

No, both the royal gramma and the flame angel both need at least 30 gallons. If you only want mushrooms, you could easily do PC's, but you're probably going to want to upgrade later since you're probably going to find a coral you want that you cant keep... When you asked "what do you put in the filter" i assume you mean what kind of media do you put in it? or what kind of filtration do you need for the tank. For media, you can use carbon, or granular ferric oxide. For filtration, you need live rock. You might want to read up on that..

Agree with both posts above.. Except for the sponges in the aquaclear... I'd ditch that idea.. I'd only use Carbon in a filter sock (cleaning it once a week and replacing it every 3 weeks), and put some live rock in there.

I think one of the most important things would be the addition of an RO/RODI unit. If it's in your budget, get that before your lighting.

i wont be able to do that, so what kind of fish could i put in this here tank

if i went with a 5 gallon could i put a damsel in there, and how would i go about a protien skimmer,
the 5 gallon would be using a aqua clear 50 for filter and 1 minni koralila

ive kept both 5 and 15 before, the 15 is infinateley better.
ditch the peppermints they are horrible
and a 15 is easy to light since its so flat, with t5s you could easily keep some stony corals, i use two k1s but mine is mainly sps so you wont need that much flow, k nanos are horrible as well, they position isnt really adjustable, id go with a large ac and a k1

thank you
