I have an old 40g long from a garage sale. Now I'm finally going to use it, it's been leak tested in the garage for a while. I think it's homemade, no frames, thick glass with a 5" glass strip inside across the bottom front to back.
I've been wondering why that strip is there. The metal stand it was used with only supports the edges & rather than use a piece of plywood I think it's supposed to help support the bottom. Maybe
Now I just need to cut a piece of plywood & figure out lights. Maybe a hanging shoplight, no frame to hold a glass cover. Or use a 55g plastic hood & get glass tops for the 55, I kinda want more than 40w of light though.
I need to move a couple tanks to make room, ugh. I don't want to lug the tank back to the basement, it weighs a ton. I don't want it freezing outside either.
I have pie inertia today but it's time to get a move on. Any more ideas?
