I just got 2 3" clown loaches they are in a very heavily planted tank, but this tank has no rocks do I need to provide caves for them to be more comfortable? This is my first tank w/o rocks driftwood and things to hide in. They have taken to it quite well, and have already started picking off the snails, the plants provide LOTS of cover.

Not an expert and have seen many in bare bottom tanks....but I find more apt to be out and about if they have some rocks nearby or a log to hide under or behind. I have a hollowed out log with one end shoved into the substrate. I can see them in there and the often come out and frolic in full lighting.

I hardly ever see mine in the caves. They prefer hiding among the plants and next to the driftwood.

They'll be fine with the plants although sometimes, they'll attempt to uproot plants so adding pipes will distract them.
