Dumb thing is, I was going to remove that internal whisper filter and give them the filter currently with the female bettas. I found the bristlenose pleco's tail sticking out. When I lifted up the filter, I realized the pleco was dead or stuck. So I freed the pleco, but the pleco has an injured tail, most likely from struggling. The pleco climbed into the top of the filter head first, got caught on the sponge filter media and couldn't get back out.

Am I leaving in three days so this is "Murphy's law " of bad things happen in fish tanks when you are about to be leaving kicking in.
Hope the poor pleco will be OK.

Just keep the tank water extra clean. That in itself will help the pleco heal. Sometimes there's some tasty biofilm on the filter parts that they just can't resist going after. I had one young one that climbed into the HOB repeatedly. After taking the filter apart to get him out day after day, I finally got tired of that and left him in there until the weekly water change. He was always fine, nice and chubby and growing! Needless to say, I was sure to include him in the first pleco order that came in! LOL!

dont worry quite alot of my fish got suked into my eheim filter chamber before but they all died im thinking of get a sponge strainer. any reccomendation?

get a better filter or put a cage around it
