Ok in my 35G i put the sheet glass in the middle of the male betta and the female bettas but he is too interested in the females and not enough on nest building. how can i encourage nest building?

I've always noticed bettas build nests after a water change. Maybe try that. Him just seeing the females should get him going. He'll split his time between flaring and building. If he's only flaring at them right now thats ok, he should begin to build soon.
ok....will keep check on him.
I've read using other bettas nests will help them along but my sister's nest isn't big enough yet so i improvised lol....There bubles are made of air and saliva right?? What is stoping them thinking humans saliva bubbles aren't nest bubble hehehe.

if you can stick your head in there n replicate a bettas bubble nest using your spit then you've got some skills!!! lol
