Hello! Before I get started with my questions I'll introduce myself.
My Name is Dave, and I'm currently a freshman in College in Ithaca, NY. I've always had a love for fish tanks, but never bothered to learn much about the beautiful creatures.
Last year, about the time I joined this site (march i think it was) I decided to start learning, and promptly began my first tropical fish tank. It's a 20 gallon tall tank that currently houses 2 Angelfish.
The Problem I have is this: Although my parents are doing a great job keeping the fish alive (although the tank is not nearly as clean as I would like it to be), I would love to bring my pals up to school with me (a car ride of about 4-5 hours). In addition, I would have to condense the fish into a 10 gallon tank, as that is the maximum size allowed in dorm rooms here.
My Questions are these:
1. Will my angels be able to live happily in a 10 gallon tank?
2. If so, are there any other fish I could put in there? (I went to my local petsmart and asked around, and one of the employees told me that I would be able to fit 2 albino corys in there with my angels. It seems like a bit of a tight squeeze for me, and I understand that LFS are not reliable so I would like to clear that up first and foremost.
3. If it ends up being best for the fish to leave them back home, I would still like to set up a 10 gallon at school so all suggestions are welcome!
(I am also up for swapping the angels for other fish with people on the site in the area in order to find them a nice home in a bigger tank as I know it is very tedious for my parents to take care of them for me)
notes on the tank: I have a heater, and a filter (not sure of the exact models as I am back in school now), small pebbles as my gravel, and plastic plants. I would love to begin learning about seascaping, but I believe the best time will be after college or over the summer when I have more time.
Thanks in advance for the help
