One of my neons has a pretty distended belly. I thought maybe I was just overfeeding but I've switched to feeding only once every other day to see if that helps, but I've seen no change. Tank parameters are normal (nitrite, ammonia 0, nitrate 15 - lots of plants) and pH is 6.5 bc I filter with peat. Is s/he just fat? The tank only has some neons and cardinals (it's a 10 gallon) and the rest of the fish are normal sized. Thanks!

Could be bloat; are the scales sticking out? Or maybe this guy is just a very aggressive feeder. Check him out next feeding time. Some of these neons don't have the sense to quit eating.

I also have one who's really fat. My guess has always been that its either a female full of eggs, or just a fatty. Maybe yours is the same?

I'll try to get a picture today, I tried on my phone and the picture was too blurry and horrible to post. I'll try to steal my roommate's camera. The fat one is definitely aggressive at feeding time... I'm going to stick with the reduced schedule to try to get him back in shape!
