I have a 100 gallon long thats been sitting in my garage for sometime now that i would like to set up, but i have absolutly no idea on what to put in it. I already have a cichlid tank(mbuna) and a community(tetras, barbs, and corys) so im not sure what i would like to do with it. Im leaning torwards another community of some sort, but not totally sure. I have 160 watts of light, and 2 aquaclear 500s for filtration. Any ideas or suggestions you guys have??

If you're thinking community, I'd go with cories on the bottom, a school of danios on the top, and a school of larger tetras in the middle. I read that if you have enough cories, then they'll seperate into schools of their own species. It would be pretty cool looking to get two kinds that contrast with each other and let them form their own seperate schools. As for the tetras, I like the Buenos Aires because they get pretty big as far as tetras go. Some people (my wife) say they're plain looking, but I think they look good in a school, especially with a couple of albino ones thrown in the mix. As far as the danios, what I'd get would depend on light levels. The pearl danios I have seem to show off A LOT more color when the lights are out and kind of look dull when they're on.

Somewhat planted...

But what would REALLY look kick butt in there would be a school of rainbowfish!

schools of celebes, threadfins, goyders, irians, turquoises, boesmanis! oh my!

And cories too, because they are so goshdarn adorable!

Ohhh i would go with malawi peacocks or haps. You said you've done mbuna, have you tried these?

I cannot wait to get a tank large enough to house these beautiful fish.

Yes a nice tropical planted tank would be fun, but i would get some sort of cichlid. Maybe even a south or central american tank. Jags or jack dempseys. With a 100 gallon long you could do so much more than basic community fish (although they are beautiful schooling in a tank that big). Ohhh so many choices. Assorted rainbowfish would be awesome too. And some nice big angels. A pair of kribs and rams. Some ghost knife fish.
Or....

go for a specific bio-tope (sp?) tank ! seeing how you've got a community tank set up now try something challenging yet interesting - pinpoint a specific region - ex - angelfish use their envirnment -= or whatever fish you like just recreate their natural home n include only species thay live with them
that woul be very cool!!!

What about a community American Cichlid tank? Sevrums, Festivums, Uaru, Firemouths, Clown Loaches, and Upside Down cats? :)

A school of clown loaches always is good. They are such playful critters. Also like leopardess said a school of rainbow fish would look great and maybe a school of honey gourami's and a male betta for show;)

Go with a planted tank and keep one fish in it, but he would be a monster, a sight to be hold, something that would amaze friends and family alike. seeing is hunt would put you in horror and delight as you see it thrash and saw its way into the lower abdimon of a helpless ickthoyd.

How about a predator tank?

Choice 1: One big predator - Wolffish.

Choice 2: Multiple predator tank - 2 Black ghost knifes, 13 bucktooth tetra

My personal preference would be choice 2.

I heard Parahna are BORING...my friend has them and he just gets close to the tank and they get scared, they don't even eat infront of people due to fear. All and all they're a bad choice.

That sucks. I've always thought they were ugly little devils but thier personality would make up for it. Oh well.
