Hi All,

Today i used a worm dispenser that are used in freshwater tanks to hold frozen food cube inside the SW tank. i think its working great. I was concerned about my cardinals that were not at all eating flakes or pellets. I just dropped in a frozen food cube (marine cuisine) into the dispenser and agitated it a little bit. All my fishes are just so happy now with small quantities of frozen food floating around.

i have a concern though. do you think nitrates would rise with cube being held in dispenser? Every now and then i just go in there and wave my hand around the dispenser that causes small portion of frozen food to escape into the tank.

Thanks for any input!

Unless it is held for very significant amounts of time, I wouldn't be too concerned. If you are concerned about the liquid along with the cubes, you could rinse it over something fine and place it in the dispenser. It will dispense more quickly that way, but it should still hold it for longer than simply pouring it in there. You could also refrigerate it a bit and make it more viscous after rinsing it to slightly prolong the dispensing time.

i am also thinking about cutting the cube in half...my snails also seems to like to it a lot..they are climbing all the way to the dispenser, filling their stomach, and just water dive down... :)

Oh, ok. That's normal. I was thinking you had your herbivorous snails eating it and I was going to ask how on earth you managed that, lol.
